The Sheehan Group have bid a fond farewell to machine operator Pat Rusher, after 25 years of service.
Pat retired in July after a 46-year career driving machines in the recycling and construction industry.
He joined Sheehan Haulage and Plant Hire Ltd in 1993 and initially worked as a site contractor before taking a machine operator role.
Pat said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time here, it is a great family firm who treat staff well.”
Reflecting on his working life, Pat said the biggest change he has seen in the industry over the years is improvements to health and safety legislation.
“I started working when I was 15, hard work is in my blood and my parents were the same,” he said.
“In the early years I remember my socks got covered in oil through my boots from the vehicles, but nowadays the machines are like driving a Rolls Royce.”
Pat is now looking forward to a well-earned rest and touring Cornwall and Devon in his caravan with his family.
On behalf of all his friends and colleagues at the Sheehan Group we thank Pat for all his hard work and wish him a long and happy retirement.
